Thyme is a strong disinfectant, but provides cellular support with its antioxidants. With its expectorant qualities, thyme is wonderful for treating chest colds and other respiratory problems. Externally, it helps with acne, fungal infections, rashes, wounds, and insect bites. Thyme also helps blood flow when applied topically, so it is beneficial to arthritis symptoms and strained muscles.
Contraindications: Avoid large doses of thyme during pregnancy. Essential oil may irritate mucous membranes if not diluted.
