Chamomile

Actions: antiseptic, antispasmodic, anti-inflammatory, sedative, bitter

This popular herb can be used for so much more than just a calming cup of tea. While wonderful for soothing nerves and easing stomach trouble, chamomile is extraordinarily healing as a salve. It reduces inflammation, heals wounds, and soothes skin irritations from insect bites or eczema. Chamomile is also child-friendly. Mothers that drink chamomile tea while breastfeeding may help relieve colic in infants.

Contraindications: Those allergic to ragweed may be irritated by the pollen. Do not use essential oil during pregnancy.
